Rhinoplasty

Enhance Facial Harmony with a Rhinoplasty

view

Is a Rhinoplasty right for you?
The size and shape of your nose has a great impact on how you look and feel about yourself.  Since the nose is a defining characteristic of your face, even small alterations can improve your appearance.  Many people decide to undergo a rhinoplasty, or nose job.  In fact, rhinoplasty is performed on half a million people each year.

What happens during a Rhinoplasty?
During the rhinoplasty, incisions are made to access the bone and cartilage systems inside the nose.   Most incisions are invisible because they are made internally. Sometimes, an incision is made on the exterior skin between the nostrils. Cartilage and bone are then modified to improve the aesthetic balance (and frequently improve the function) of the nose.

What results should you anticipate?

You will be pleased with the results of nose surgery if you have a realistic idea of what is possible. During a consultation, Dr. Bridges will review the potential results and expectations associated with the surgery.  Your photo will be taken and software used to “morph” your nose in order to give you an idea what your nose might look like after surgery.  Since there is no perfect nose in rhinoplasty, the main goal is to improve the nose aesthetically, making it complement your other facial features.

What can you expect post-surgery?
Dr. Bridges typically places rolled non-stick guaze packing in the nose that will be removed in the office the day after surgery.   Potentially painful plastic internal splints are not used.  He will also put a splint on the outside of your nose to help retain the new shape during the healing process.  The splint is usually removed a week after your surgery.  Your face will feel slightly puffy, and you may also experience some minimal bruising and swelling around your eyes.  The nose is then retaped for a few days to help with swelling even more.   Swelling decreases dramatically during the first few weeks.  The last bit of swelling can then take many months to completely resolve.

Dr. Bridges will frequently see you back after surgery to make sure the nose is healing well, inside and out.
