Latisse®

What is Latisse®?

Latisse® is a prescription topical medication that is applied to the base of the eyelashes.  It can result in longer, thicker eyelashes.

How was Latisse® discovered?

Interestingly, the active ingredient in Latisse®, bimatoprost, has been used for years to treat glaucoma. Patients noticed that while using the drops, their eyelashes grew.  The rest is history...

How long does it take to work?

Generally, maximum effects are seen at 16 weeks.  However, most patients notice some improvement in as little as 4-6 weeks.

What are the risks?

The only significant risk is darkening of the iris (the colored part of the eye).  For people with dark eyes, this is not an issue.  However, people with lighter eyes should consider this risk before using Latisse.  However, no cases of darkening of the iris have been reported using Latisse.  The issue has only been reported from using the drop form of bimatoprost.

Where can I get Latisse®?

Dr. Bridges has Latisse® available for purchase in his office.  Alternatively, a prescription can be provided to be filled elsewhere.
